Bass Coast Specialist School welcomed its first students in the beginning of Term 4 2009 in a new purpose built facility in Wonthaggi.

The school consists of 8 classrooms with adjoining disabled bathrooms, a library, art room, music room, gymnasism, home economics kitchen that is wheelchair accessible and Allied Health consulting rooms.

Bass Coast Specialist School is the foundation of the new Bass Coast Shire Education precinct with the addition of Wonthaggi Secondary College Senior Campus having been completed at the beginning of 2020.

At Bass Coast Specialist School we are committed to developing the skills for independence and community inclusion.

We emphasise the importance of partnerships between staff, families and our community and seek opportunities to strengthen these ties.

Students are supported with a multidisciplinary framework that includes parents, caregivers, specialist trained teachers, education support staff, and a therapy team consisting of speech therapists, occupational therapist, music therapist and visiting physiotherapist.

A primary welfare officer, partially funded under the National Schools Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program completes our team.
